Brian McLaren is an author, thinker and pastor who has become one of the most respected voices of the “emerging church movement”. He will be leading conversations about the emerging shape of mission, the church and Christianity itself in our rapidly changing context.
Brian’s books have been significant for many in and on the fringes of the church. They include:
- A New Kind of Christian, The Story We Find Ourselves In and The Last Word and the Word After That are a part of a recently completed trilogy.
A Generous Orthodoxy is a personal confession of faith and has been called a “manifesto” of the emerging church conversation. The book’s subtitle is effectively its table of contents: Why I Am a Missional, Evangelical, Post/Protestant, Liberal/Conservative, Mystical/Poetic, Biblical, Charismatic/Contemplative, Fundamentalist/Calvinist, Anabaptist/Anglican, Methodist, Catholic, Green, Incarnational, Depressed-yet-Hopeful, Emergent, Unfi nished CHRISTIAN.
Brian’s two latest books are The Last Word and the Word After That (Jossey-Bass, 2005), and The Secret Message of Jesus (Word, 2006), an exploration of the kingdom of God in the teachings of Jesus.

Woo-hoo! I’m massively stoked he’s coming out, and that I’m not in Sydney having to pay heaps of money for the lectures!

[…] Anyone interested in going to see Brian Mclaren this Friday night? I’ve been told that if I were to try and drive to Sydney, see Mclaren, drive home and then go to a Presbytery meeting I’d be smacked over the back of the head numerous times… […]
